If you can set it to a verse-chorus structure\, maybe you can get a song. A song can come from anywhere\, but the main inspiration is fear. Specifically fear of irrelevance. If you don’t have songs\, you don’t have a record. If you don’t have a record\, you don’t have a tour. You gotta keep putting out work.” \n \nJames McMurtry’s The Black Dog & The Wandering Boy will be available across digital platforms\, compact disc\, and standard black vinyl. SUMMARY:Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams ~ An intimate evening with the First Couple of Americana Music
DESCRIPTION:The debut of Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams as a musical duo was decades in the making. Husband and wife\, they have long pursued largely independent creative careers that have taken them around the globe many times. Campbell\, a virtuosic and versatile multi-instrumentalist\, has been a go-to session musician and producer since the 1980s. He later spent eight years backing Bob Dylan on tour and was an integral part of recording 2001’s Love and Theft. Williams\, who moved from rural Tennessee to New York City to pursue acting and musical theater\, found a niche playing roles that complimented her Southern background and powerful\, country-inflected voice. Campbell happened to be the pedal-steel player in a band Williams put together at New York City’s Bottom Line more than 30 years ago—and the rest was history. \n \n“As soon as I saw her\, I knew she was the one\,” says Larry. That epiphany occurred in a Manhattan rehearsal studio. Teresa\, an actress and vocalist not long removed from Peckerwood Point\, TN\, had been pulled into a singing contest. Larry\, the New York City native with a burgeoning reputation for his virtuosity on any instrument with strings\, was brought in to play pedal steel guitar. “For me\, it was love at first note\,” she says. Together they went on to capture a greater prize. \n \nFrom the beginning\, they shared a musical sensibility; Larry courted her with a Louvin Brothers mix tape. The more they played together\, the deeper it grew. Whether it was Larry joining in on the music with Teresa’s family and neighbors under the tree where they were married (“Larry melded perfectly\,” says Teresa)\, or Teresa belting bluegrass songs on the bus with Larry and the rest of Bob Dylan’s band as they traveled between gigs (“It was very fulfilling\,” recalls Larry)\, the couple’s rapport grew richer. “I found a connection I had never experienced before\,” says Larry. When Dylan’s manager\, Jeff Kramer\, suggested that they make hay with this natural duo\, he expressed a thought that had been already brewing in Larry’s head. But Larry wasn’t ready. “I had to start seeing myself as a singer and songwriter before I could take that step.” The couple took another decade\, much spent playing with Levon Helm and his band at his legendary Midnight Rambles in Woodstock\, before Larry and Teresa elevated their rapport to the next level. \n \nAfter leaving Dylan’s band in 2004\, Campbell answered the call from Levon Helm\, drummer and singer with The Band\, to serve as musical director at the Midnight Ramble\,” the intimate  concert series at Helm’s home studio in Woodstock\, New York. At Helm’s invitation\, Williams came on as a regular singer. Campbell also co-produced two Grammy winning albums with Helm—2007’s Dirt Farmer and 2009’s follow-up Electric Dirt. \nAll This Time is the couple’s fourth album since taking that leap\, following Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams (2015)\, Contraband Love (2017)\, and Live at Levon’s (2023). All This Time \, says Larry\, “feels more intuitive to me than the earlier records\, less experimental\, evidence that we’ve grown more aware of who we are and what we have to offer.” What they offer\, evidently\, is an intensely romantic album. Songs like Desert Island Dreams\, Ride With Me\, The Way You Make Me Feel\, and I Love You fairly burst with the joy of love\, while others recognize love’s humbling power. “All I want\, all I need\, is right in front of me\,” testifies one song. “I still tremble at your name\,” says another. \nIt’s not hard to recognize All This Time as a post-Covid album. Larry and Teresa had a hard pandemic. Before Teresa left for remote Tennessee to nurse her father through his last illness\, Larry came down with a double-barreled blast of Covid\, and Teresa was quarantined. Isolated in Woodstock before treatments had been developed\, Larry struggled. “Teresa pulled me through\,” he says. “I held his hand over the phone\,” she offers. Teresa says Larry’s lyrics often help her decipher what’s on his mind\, but it doesn’t always take a codebreaker to recognize the songs on this album as love letters sprouted in a harsh spring. “When you told me that you need me/ After all we’ve been through/ I still think about the love we have to give/ I think about you.”

SUMMARY:James Maddock returns to Roy's Hall
DESCRIPTION:A rock & roll lifer\, James Maddock has been carving his unique path since the 1980s\, when the British-born singer/songwriter kicked off his career with a raw\, soulful voice; a storyteller’s sense of narrative; and the ability to blur the lines between folk\, classic pop\, and rock. Backed by his longtime band of NYC-area musicians\, James sets the world to music\, mixing sweeping melodies and rousing choruses with lyrics that shine a bright light on these darker times. \n \nJames Maddock’s status as a fixture on the Folk and Americana scene is confirmed with every listen of any song in his prodigious catalog. Relix Magazine put it this way: “James Maddock possesses the kind of lived-in craggy voice that would sound authoritative if he were singing the sports pages. Fortunately\, he doesn’t need to do that because his compositional skills are a match for his delivery.” \nAfter fronting the Columbia Records band Wood\, whose debut Songs From Stamford Hill was featured prominently on TV shows such as “Dawson’s Creek\,” Maddock moved from England to New York City in 2003. His 2009 album Sunrise On Avenue C won a New York Music Award for Best Americana Album\, while the follow-up Wake Up And Dream ranked among the top albums of 2011 in WFUV’s (NYC) Listener Poll. With the release of Another Life (2013) and The Green (2015) Maddock continued to demonstrate why many consider him to be one of the best singer/songwriters working today. He has performed with Bruce Springsteen\, Willie Nile\, Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors) and David Immergluck (Counting Crows). According to radio legend Vin Scelsa\, Maddock’s “heartbreakingly beautiful and exquisitely crafted” music “touches the soul.” As a songwriter\, James recently had three songs co-written with Mike Scott on the new Waterboys album Modern Blues (which appeared in the Top 50 on the UK Albums Chart)\, a co-write with Gary Barlow (“Actress”) on Barlow’s new album (2X Platinum)\, as well as a cut (“Fragile”) on the Dirt On My Tongue album by emerging UK artist Jo Harman. Songs from Another Life have been featured on NBC’s Parenthood and ABC Family’s Switched at Birth. Maddock is a constant live presence in the U.S. and Europe. \n \nJames Maddock returns with a new album titled “Night Work”\, which features about ten tracks\, mostly with a vibrant rock vibe\, composed in Brooklyn in just three weeks in the fall of 2022. “Night Work” refers precisely to the writing of the songs\, which in the case of the British singer-songwriter based in New York is especially at night. That phase followed months in which Maddock rounded up a band that this time includes friends from both the Big Apple and Londoners. The latter\, in particular\, take us back to Maddock’s past and debuts with the Woods. In fact\, the case meant that the band’s drummer Steve Jackson contacted James right between writing and recording the album\, informing him that he had set up a small studio. Maddock has thus involved not only him\, but also Wood bassist James O’Malley\, creating a record that almost seems to map his musical path.

SUMMARY:"The Librarians" A documentary film to benefit the Warren County library system
DESCRIPTION:A Benefit to support Warren County NJ libraries\n\nIn The Librarians film\, librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights.\n \n\n\n\n\n\nLibrarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know\, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities.\n\n\n\n\nIn Texas\, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQia+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate\, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment\, threats\, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale.

SUMMARY:Steve Forbert "A True American Treasure" in concert
DESCRIPTION:  \nSteve Forbert is a true American treasure\, a fact underscored by his 21st album\, Daylight Savings Time. Like all his albums of original songs\, it’s suffused with what venerated rock journalist Robert Christgau discerned as his “omnivorously observant” songwriting\, marked by Steve’s gift for finding the deeper meaning and magic within the spectrum of everyday moments\, as well as his abundant melodic and poetic enchantment. \n \n  \nAs Forbert approaches the milestone of his 70th birthday\, Daylight Savings Time contemplates and celebrates the proverbial ‘extra hour of daylight’ that comes with the time change. “Yeah to chirping crickets and to daylight savings time!” he sings on the album’s first single “Sound Existence\,” “The best ain’t yet to come\, but you could still get by just fine.” \nSteve arrived in New York City from his Meridian\, Mississippi hometown in 1976. He slotted seamlessly into the “new folk” revival in such Manhattan clubs as Folk City\, The Bitter End\, and Kenny’s Castaways while taking the stage at CBGB\, ground zero of the burgeoning new wave/punk movement. He also busked on the streets of Greenwich Village and in the elegant confines of Grand Central Station. \nHe quickly won a major label deal with Nemperor/CBS Records and released his heralded debut\, Alive on Arrival\, in 1978. His next album\, Jackrabbit Slim\, released in 1979\, brought wider renown to Forbert with its #11 pop chart hit “Romeo’s Tune.” It provided the stature for his troubadour existence\, which has kept him active ever since as “a striking performer\, very much worth seeing and hearing\,” according to the New York Times.

These teens are the epitome of rock & roll youth as they weave their own innovative sound into the classics. Hailing from the Skylands of Northwestern NJ\, this multi-talented rock band has been throwing down hits from the 60s to the 90s spanning across several genres. They are tenaciously working on original tracks and recorded their first demo\, “Where I Am” in March of 2024. They’ve since been busy in the studio working on their upcoming EP release. They released their 2nd demo\, “Home”\, in August 2024. It’s available on SoundCloud. Their recent addition of original songs has put them in a league of their own as they showcase their individual musical style! \n \nThe five boys came together as a band in December of 2022 and quickly moved up the ranks on the local music scene. Their moniker is a tribute to jamming in a band member’s basement\, which is where the band first began when they were High School juniors. Since forming\, they have been the House Band at their School while continuing to gain momentum\, booking gigs\, and consistently drawing a crowd wherever they go. Now that they graduated High School\, the sky is the limit! They have been active in local community service and the band continues to show support for their hometown through their music at a variety of meaningful functions. \n  \nThe Cellar Dwellars band has made some big strides in a short amount of time in 2024. They are beyond psyched to announce they will be playing their hometown venue\, Roy’s Hall\, on November 28! The guys are eager to hit the stage with their distinctive sound and youthful fun vibe. Their creativity lends itself to having other gifted teenage guests appear for special performances with them\, which always makes for a dynamic show! They have an incredibly bright future ahead.

SUMMARY:Scott Sharrard - Little Feat guitarist and Gregg Allman's musical director in an intimate evening of stories and song
DESCRIPTION:American music courses through Scott Sharrard’s heart and soul. From the farm to the church and the back porch to the roadhouse\, Sharrard makes music that is rooted in the soil. \nAll of the styles that he cherishes — rock & roll\, rhythm & blues\, country\, folk\, gospel\, country\, jazz –whisper in one voice\, like a sweet-talking lover. \nPlaying\, collaborating\, telling stories\, connecting with fans: this is what he calls “my happy place.” \n “I love being a mentor\, a shepherd\, a music director\,” Sharrard says at his studio on Harlem’s West Side. “The concept of community is magical to me. The rest is just noise.” \n“I think of myself as a facilitator\, the way Quincy Jones served every artistic situation. He was intuitively guided by the music and that enabled him to capture each artist’s singular vision.” \nScott Sharrard center stage with Little Feat \n Since 2019\, Sharrard has been the lead singer and guitarist for Little Feat\, preserving the magic of the group’s beloved guiding light\, the late Lowell George\, and reimagining that energy with his own mojo. As a co producer and singer/guitarist/songwriter\, Scott has worked on two Little Feat recordings to date.  Live at The Ryman (2022) was a riveting\, Grammy-nominated PBS special\, with star turns from Eric Church\, Jamey Johnson\, Tommy Emmanuel and Marcus King. and Sam’s Place(2024) received a Grammy nomination for Blues Album of the Year. \n \n Sharrard is also guided by the angels who surround Gregg Allman. Sharrard served as Allman’s music director\, band leader and producer for many years; their partnership culminated in the Grammy-nominated Southern Blood in 2017. “My Only True Friend\,” an indelible song which Sharrard and Allman wrote for the album\, also received a Grammy nomination for Americana Song of the Year. \n But Sharrard and Allman were more than collaborators. They were also confidants and best friends. \n“Gregg’s spirit is always near to me\,” he says.

DESCRIPTION:Peter Karp is known for many things. An assertive singer\, a skilled guitarist and a passionate performer\, he’s also an individual who writes songs that frequently reflect tales told as part of life’s journey\, spawned by passion and personal experience. \nConsequently he’s not easily confined to any singular genre. Blues\, Americana and rock and roll reverence all find common ground within his visceral template. He taps tradition and yet also maintains contemporary credence. As his friend and collaborator\, Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor once noted\, “Guys like Peter Karp\, James Taylor and Bob Dylan embody Americana Blues\, and us English guys are inspired by it.”

SUMMARY:Stanley Jordan plays Jimi Hendrix. A Master's tribute to the Master.
DESCRIPTION:World-renowned guitarist Stanley Jordan has developed a new live show called “Stanley Plays Jimi.” This is a tribute show\, but it’s not pure imitation. Instead Stanley builds on Jimi’s legacy in a creative way. As Stanley explains it\, “This is my fantasy Jimi Hendrix concert if Jimi were still alive and playing today. By re-imagining his music and channeling his persona I try to bring that fantasy to life.” \n \nIn terms of look and style\, Stanley stays mostly faithful to Jimi’s traditional style. Of course we know Jimi could have evolved significantly in his clothing style by now but Stanley doesn’t speculate much in that area\, explaining\, “The truth is\, in this show I’m both a musician and an actor\, and I want my character to be believable. I feel that the best way to do that is to be fairly faithful to the Jimi Hendrix that we all know.” \n \n“Stanley Plays Jimi” is a new project but it’s based on an old idea. Stanley says\, “Back in 1970 at the age of 11 I was saddened to hear of Jimi’s passing. I decided there and then to try to continue his legacy\, so I took up guitar. Of course my main goal was to be an original artist in my own right\, but the concept of a Hendrix tribute has been in my mind pretty much from the start. Now\, in the year of the 50th anniversary of Jimi’s historic Woodstock performance the time feels right to bring this idea to fruition.”

SUMMARY:Eldorado Slim - Featuring Scott Sharrard of Little Feat & The Gregg Allman Band
DESCRIPTION:Eldorado Slim” is a a six-piece ensemble exploring early 1970s soul-jazz\, acid funk and space spirituals!\nWhere Bill Graham’s Fillmore East meets Detroit’s Club Mozambique you will find the sounds of NYC’s newest band\, Eldorado Slim. Led by Little Feat Guitarist Scott Sharrard\, the 6 piece lineup consists of some of New York City’s finest musicians. The band takes its name from an obscure Little Feat jam from the early 1970s. Sharrard describes Eldorado Slim’s mix of 1970s instrumental covers as a blend of “acid funk and space spirituals”. \n \nThe band takes their sound and repertoire from one of the richest chapters in American roots music history. Inspired by the consciousness expanding and hypnotic\, improvisational funk of the era\, music by artists like Grant Green\, Eddie Harris\, Lonnie Smith\, The Crusaders\, Cannonball Adderley\, King Curtis\, Chico Hamilton and Stuff. Eldorado Slim also nods to Scott Sharrard’s work with Gregg Allman and Little Feat by occasionally doing their own instrumental interpretations and arrangements of tunes from those iconic rock and roll songbooks. \n \nScott Sharrard https://www.scottsharrard.com/ \nScott Sharrard is not only a member of Little Feat (since 2019) but was also the guitarist\, musical director and Grammy nominated songwriter and producer for the Gregg Allman band (from 2008 until Greggs passing in 2017). Scott has been nominated for two Grammys and has released 6 solo albums under his own name as a singer/songwriter. Along with Sharrard’s distinct blues inflected soul guitar style\, Eldorado Slim’s instrumentation is propelled forward by Latin percussion\, Hammond B-3 organ\, drums and a horn section. The band members include Pat Bianchi\, Clark Gayton\, Craig Dreyer\, Tony Leone and Fred Walcott. The musical stew the band creates weaves between acid jazz and acid rock\, with a constant grasp on the relentless pulse of rhythm & blues and some occasional post bop improvisation. In the chaos of our modern times\, Eldorado Slim harkens back to a groovier time and an analog solution. In the words of the great Maceo Parker\, the band plays “2% jazz and 98% funky stuff.”

SUMMARY:Damn Tall Buildings - Appalachian roots music\, “repurposed for a modern audience.”
DESCRIPTION:“Damn Tall Buildings is a damn fine trio\, mixing bluegrass\, swing\, and foot-stomping old-time music you wouldn’t think possible from a band from Brooklyn.”— NO DEPRESSION \n“Think of: The Carter Family for the millennial generation. Old Crow Medicine Show meets Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros meets Flatt & Scruggs meets Nickel Creek\, with a dash of Avett Brothers and a sprinkle of Johnny Cash. The band coined the term “guerrilla roots” to describe its sound\, which draws on early-20th-century Americana/bluegrass music\, “repurposed for a modern audience.”— The Boston Globe \n \n“If you like your bluegrass served with a little punch\, attitude\, grit and gravy\, with that busking spirit that was so present and palpable in the early incarnations of Old Crow Medicine Show and made your realize that string band music could be so much more than fuddy-duddy reenactments by crusty ol’ relics\, then the Damn Tall Buildings will slide in nice as a welcome edition to your listening rotation. Bluegrass at heart\, but pulling from a wide range of influences including swing\, ragtime\, jazz\, and even a hint of contemporary perspective in the songwriting\, they offer virtually unmatched energy and enthusiasm\, underpinned by intelligent songs that don’t skimp on the infectiousness…” — savingcountrymusic.com

SUMMARY:Kathleen Edwards Trio in Concert with special guest Matt Susich
DESCRIPTION:Canadian singer and songwriter Kathleen Edwards became a star in the Americana community in the 2000s on the basis of her emotionally incisive songs and sweetly smoky voice. Edwards’ lyrics are evocative and direct in their take on relationships and the trials of everyday lives\, and her music\, which varies from quietly contemplative and keenly boisterous to suit her mood\, is an effective match for her material. Edwards’ second album\, 2005’s Back To Me\, was a critical success that revealed her talent to listeners outside Canada\, and 2012’s Voyageur\, which followed a relationship from meeting to breakup\, was a commercial success as well as a hit with her fans. \n \nKathleen Edwards was born in Ottawa\, Ontario\, the daughter of foreign service parents who played piano and guitar in their spare time. At five\, she began to study classical violin\, which continued through her early teens. At that point\, the Edwards family moved overseas. Removed from the influence of mainstream North American pop music\, Edwards delved into her older brother’s collection of Bob Dylan\, Neil Young\, and early Tom Petty records. After high school\, she landed back in Ottawa\, where she sang and played her guitar in local clubs while networking with other musicians in the scene. \n \nIn 1999\, Edwards recorded her debut EP\, Building 55\, and toured throughout Canada to support it\, busking and opening for acts like Hayden and Jane Siberry along the way. A bad breakup led to more songwriting\, much of which took place after Edwards moved out of Ottawa and into rural Quebec. Those songs became the basis of Failer\, her debut full-length\, which she recorded in Ottawa in late 2001. The album was a heartfelt mixture of folk and country\, and drew upon influences like Whiskeytown and Gillian Welch. A major critical buzz began to swirl around her music\, and gigs at the 2002 South by Southwest festival — as well as an opening slot for Richard Buckner — led to a deal with Zoe/Rounder\, which released Failer in January 2003. The album garnered rave reviews\, and Edwards toured extensively in support\, headlining her own club dates and playing arenas in support of Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. \n \nShe headed back into the studio in 2004 to record her second album\, with guitarist and bandleader Colin Cripps serving as producer. The final product was Back to Me\, which arrived in stores during the spring of 2005 and introduced some pop elements into Edwards’ dusty Americana. It was followed in 2008 by Asking for Flowers. It would be four years before her next album\, Voyageur\, which chronicled a love affair from beginning to end\, appeared in 2012. \nProduced by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver\, Voyageur became Edwards’ biggest commercial success to date\, rising to number 39 on the American Album charts\, and number two in Canada. However\, the stresses of success\, a relentless touring schedule\, a struggle with clinical depression\, and difficult romantic relationships took their toll on Edwards\, and in 2014 she retired from music to open a cafe named Quitters Coffee in Stittsville\, Ontario. She was content living outside of the spotlight when\, in 2018\, country star Maren Morris\, a fan of her work\, contacted her and asked if they could write a song together. Their collaboration\, “Good Woman\,” appeared on Morris’ 2019 album Girl\, and it inspired Edwards to pick up her guitar and become comfortable with music again. After writing a set of fresh songs\, she teamed with producers Ian Fitchuk and Jim Bryson to make an album entirely on her own terms. Her fifth full-length\, Total Freedom\, was released by Dualtone Records in August 2020.

SUMMARY:Professor Louie & The Crowmatix play the music of THE BAND... and more
DESCRIPTION:Multi-instrumentalist/producer Professor Louie (aka Aaron Hurwitz) is primarily known for his long-standing association with The Band and his influence on the Woodstock\, NY\, music scene during the ’90s. \nThe New York native studied piano and arrangement at such NYC programs as Henry Street Settlement and the Brooklyn Academy of Music\, and performed in the downtown club scene with the roots-based Mighty Gospel Giants of Brooklyn. In the early ’80s\, he was brought into contact with Levon Helm\, Rick Danko\, and Garth Hudson\, who were\, at the time\, resurrecting the Band. After collaborating with Hudson throughout the ’80s in Woodstock\, Louie made the move to the small town. Weekly sessions with a variety of artists\, including his writing partner\, vocalist “Miss Marie” Spinosa\, at Levon Helm’s home studio led to the formation of the Crowmatix. \n \n \nDuring the ’90s\, Louie co-produced and engineered the Band albums Jericho\, High on the Hog\, and Jubilation. He also paired up with Rick Danko for a series of duo concerts and did studio work with groups as diverse as Mercury Rev (Deserter’s Songs)\, Livingston Taylor\, Four Men and a Dog\, and Artie Traum. Louie toured with Danko shortly before the singer/bassist’s death and co-produced and performed extensively on his posthumous album\, Times Like These. Professor “Louie” & the Crowmatix released Over the Edge on Breeze Hill Records in August 2000. Jam followed a year later\, offering a collection of jam sessions by some of the best roots rockers in the underground. A year later\, Flyin’ High offered more of the same.
