SUMMARY:Peter Karp "Jersey Town" recording release party at Roy's Hall
DESCRIPTION:Singer-Songwriter-Guitarist-Keyboardist-Producer Peter Karp\, born in Bergen County\, NJ has carved out one epic career for himself. He was moved to an Alabama trailer park at nine years old\, but found his way back to the northeast as a young man. He made his mark playing CBGBs\, The Mudd Club and Folk City in Manhattan\, sharing the stage and learning from Mink DeVille\, Stray Cats\, David Johansen and George Thorogood. Then he up and quit to become a film director before returning to music fulltime in the 1990s\, befriending Rolling Stones lead guitarist Mick Taylor who flew in from London to play on his The Turning Point album. His 2010 and 2012 duet records with Canadian firecracker Sue Foley brought him a whole new audience before a stunning series of solo albums in ’17\, ’18 and ’20 cemented his reputation. He’s spent the past years tirelessly playing venues and festivals to a burgeoning fan base in Europe and the US.  Karp continues to carve out his own unique niche\, with a sound born in the swamps of New Jersey and the trailer parks of southern Alabama. \n \nJersey Town is his 13th album\, and an homage to his home state. In the 1960s\, the rhythms of northern New Jersey pulsed hard with urgency. It was here\, in North Jersey\, in the grayness\, grit\, din\, and relentless rush-hour traffic\, amidst cold and crumbling rusted steel bridges and dark overpasses\, beneath looming loading cranes that towered like prehistoric skeletons over billowing refineries and post-apocalyptic swamplands\, at the last chance and final stop on the New Jersey Turnpike\, that Peter Karp was born.

SUMMARY:Box of Rain – '68-74 Era Grateful Dead w/special guest Tom Hampton
DESCRIPTION:BOX OF RAIN is the classic six piece that pays tribute to the most prolific and finest period of the GRATEFUL DEAD\, 68-74. Featuring a revolving\, all star lineup with former members of Dark Star Orchestra\, Living Earth\, Zen Tricksters and Dead On Live\, BOX OF RAIN channels the sound and magic that could have only happened at that special time. \nAnd what a time it was..the Dead were at the height of both their songwriting and improvisational prowess! Featuring an extended Pig Pen presence\, one very swingin’ drummer and the most coherent and visceral space/improvisations\, the typical 5-6 hour GD performances were legendary and a trip for sure. \n \n“BOX OF RAIN is a true labor of love with Bob Stirner (Living Earth/Boris Garcia) on lead guitar\, Craig Privett (Half Step\, Jam Stampede) on bass\,  Mike Kennedy (Living Earth) on guitar\, Bud Burroughs (Boris Garcia) on keys\, Jon Bernstein (Bears Choice) on harp and Pig Pen vocals and Tim Kelley (Boris Garcia) on drums.” \n \n \nTom Hampton’s years as a journeyman multi-instrumentalist and sideman are bookended by his origins as a singer and songwriter – he released his critically acclaimed debut “Our Mutual Angels” in 1997 before heeding the call as a session player based on his demonstrated adeptness on multiple instruments during those recordings. His path in the years that followed found him touring and recording with Poco\, Craig Bickhardt\, The Marshall Tucker Band\, Robert Hazard\, Dan May\, Tracy Grammer and a multitude of acts who came to rely on his musical sensibilities. \nHampton was the last person to join the pioneering country-rock band Poco\, but following the death of founder Rusty Young in 2021\, Hampton joined with the surviving members to form Cimarron 615 – and found himself revisiting his songwriting roots. Writing or co-writing three of the album’s songs (including the title track)\, he found that he’d reopened a vein…and songs started pouring out. \nThe resulting album\, “A Month Of Somedays”\, owes as much to Jason Isbell and John Moreland as it does to formative influences Jackson Browne and Stephen Stills – the songs are character studies – honest looks at life\, regret\, the passage of time that could only come from an abundance of mileage and experience. The music wears his country-rock origins on its sleeve\, but rides an undercurrent of red dirt Americana instrumentation and confessional singer/songwriter lyricism to form a unique\, yet instantly familiar sonic landscape.

SUMMARY:Teddy Thompson in concert ~ born in London of British folk-rock royalty.
DESCRIPTION:British folk musician Teddy Thompson came to the United States some 25 years ago and made a new life for himself in New York City and has not looked back ever since. Born to folk singer parents Richard and Linda Thompson and brother to Kamila Thompson\, also a musician\, music is in Thompson’s blood. \n“… one of the most gifted singer-songwriters of his generation” – The New York Times \n“Teddy’s glorious tenor is bracing but warm and never showy.” – The Associated Press \n“Buoyant\, soulful” – Billboard \n \nThe beloved London-born\, Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Teddy Thompson has returned with the exquisitely crafted Never Be The Same\, his first collection of original material since 2020. Across ten tracks\, Thompson refines his craft via an exploration of music’s enduring preoccupations — love\, longing\, and the uneasy passage of time. \n \nThis pull and tension between comfort and change runs quietly throughout Never Be The Same\, Thompson’s 11th album\, which was produced by renowned Grammy Award–winning musician/producer David Mansfield. At the core is Thompson’s longstanding commitment to songwriting as a form\, inspired by early influences like Chuck Berry\, Hank Williams\, and Crowded House\, as well as the towering figures of the craft — Bob Dylan\, Leonard Cohen\, The Beatles\, and\, certainly\, his parents\, British folk icons Richard and Linda Thompson.
