DESCRIPTION:Alison Brown doesn’t play the banjo… Alison Brown plays music on the banjo. \nAcoustic instrumental music has never been so beautifully represented as by Alison Brown.  As one of the most multi-faceted minds on today’s roots music scene\, every one of Alison’s endeavors is marked by innovation\, intelligence\, and grace. As a banjo player\, she throws out the textbook when it comes playing the banjo and the result is a sound that blends the rugged drive of bluegrass with the harmonic sensibilities of jazz\, earning vast acclaim and a GRAMMY award in the process. \n \nAlison took an unusual path to becoming an internationally recognized banjoist.  After completing her undergraduate studies at Harvard University and receiving an MBA from UCLA\, she pursued a career in investment banking. But she missed the bluegrass music she’d grown up playing in Southern California so much that when Alison Krauss called looking for a banjo player\, she made the decision to give up her Wall Street career to pursue music.  She toured with Alison Krauss and Union Station\, and Michelle Shocked before forming her own group\, The Alison Brown Quartet\, in 1993. \nSince that time\, Alison and her band have been winning over traditionalists and mainstream music fans alike with her unique style.  They have toured extensively throughout the US and abroad with stops at some of music’s most prestigious venues including The Kennedy Center\, Newport Folk Festival\, Telluride Bluegrass Festival\, MerleFest\, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival\, Philadelphia Folk Festival\, FreshGrass\, The Cambridge Folk Festival (England)\, Celtic Connections (Scotland)\, Dublin National Concert Hall (Ireland)\, Galway Arts Festival (Ireland) and Verbier Music Festival (Switzerland).  The band has also traveled to Central and South America at the invitation of the US Information Agency and to Japan as Friendship Ambassadors on behalf of the Nashville Mayor’s office to celebrate a new sister city relationship between Kamakura\, Japan and Music City. \n  \n \nAlison has recorded 12 critically-acclaimed solo albums\, received a GRAMMY and multiple GRAMMY- nominations. She has also received the USA Artists Fellowship in Music and a Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Bluegrass Music Association. Alison has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning\, NPR’s All Things Considered and in the pages of the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times among many other publications. \n  \nAlison is also the co-founder of the internationally recognized roots music label Compass Records Group which Billboard Magazine has called “one of the greatest independent labels of the last decade.” Compass Records Group oversees a catalog of nearly 1\,000 releases across multiple label imprints\, including Red House Records\, Green Linnet and Mulligan Records. SUMMARY:Peter Karp "Jersey Town" recording release party at Roy's Hall
DESCRIPTION:Singer-Songwriter-Guitarist-Keyboardist-Producer Peter Karp\, born in Bergen County\, NJ has carved out one epic career for himself. He was moved to an Alabama trailer park at nine years old\, but found his way back to the northeast as a young man. He made his mark playing CBGBs\, The Mudd Club and Folk City in Manhattan\, sharing the stage and learning from Mink DeVille\, Stray Cats\, David Johansen and George Thorogood. Then he up and quit to become a film director before returning to music fulltime in the 1990s\, befriending Rolling Stones lead guitarist Mick Taylor who flew in from London to play on his The Turning Point album. His 2010 and 2012 duet records with Canadian firecracker Sue Foley brought him a whole new audience before a stunning series of solo albums in ’17\, ’18 and ’20 cemented his reputation. He’s spent the past years tirelessly playing venues and festivals to a burgeoning fan base in Europe and the US.  Karp continues to carve out his own unique niche\, with a sound born in the swamps of New Jersey and the trailer parks of southern Alabama. \n \nJersey Town is his 13th album\, and an homage to his home state. In the 1960s\, the rhythms of northern New Jersey pulsed hard with urgency. DESCRIPTION:Brian St. John is a Sussex County\, NJ based singer-songwriter writing in the present who connects deeply with music of the past. After fronting his eponymous Quartet for five years and three albums\, he has struck off on his own releasing seven studio albums and eight live records in a little over a decade. With his latest release which we are hear to celebrate\, 2026’s The Blues Album\, we are here to bring it back to where it all begins. After a chance encounter to open for the great Jimmie Vaughan\, inspiration struck to add to the myriad of blues standards with originals hinting at Warren Zevon’s sardonic wordplay and Warren Haynes’ powerful but tasteful bending and improvisation. Together with Chris Calandrillo [guitar]\, Jon Irizarry [keys]\, Matt Carlson [drums/percussion]\, Alan Tepper [bass]\, and Lou Tambone [drums/percussion]\, The Brian St. John Band will play the album in its entirety plus a few favorites from his catalog to mark the release of this new record.\n \nWe hope you can join us for an evening of to celebrate the release of The Blues Album at Roy’s Hall on Saturday Nov 7th at 8pm with special guest The Harrisons \n \nThe Harrisons are a powerhouse husband and wife music duo that tours all over the NJ/NY/PA tri-state area. Performing nearly every genre of music on a wide variety of instruments (usually more than one at a time!)\, Christian and Jennifer create the sound of a full rock band with only two people! \nBesides their busy gigging schedule\, The Harrisons also compose\, record\, and produce their own original music in house at Grasshopper Studios located in their home in Andover\, NJ.The Harrisons perform at a wide variety of venues\, but are also available for private events.
